Up to this point in the course our study of music has focussed on pitch. This week you will receive instruction on how rhythms are written in Western music notation. You will learn about note values, how these note values are gathered together to form a "measure." Later in the course you will see how the measures and beats are organized in music.
No doubt you have tapped your foot to music or even danced to it. You already know that music has recurring patterns of beats. Now you will be learning how musicians specify beats and patterns time signatures.
Be sure to keep up to date with the list of terms (link given at the top of the course web site). Your grade on your comment project will in part be determined by your accurate application of the terms you are learning in the course.
