Well for step 2 I want to create my rhythmic background in Aria Maestosa. I am going to use percussion for my rhythms. So I am going to select this. And remember that the tempo I want is 80. That is very important. You don’t want to have to mess around too much with that. So I have some of the basic percussion instruments here.
How about if I do a bass drum. Oops. I will do a bass drum on each
downbeat here. OK. I will go all the way to measure 8.
Let’s make this longer so at least it is 20 measures in length. I will
copy and paste so that I can get the rest of it in there.
Why don’t we add a snare in the middle here. Something like that. And a
crash. Oops, I want it ..there OK. Give me a minute and I will copy and
paste all of that.
OK, I am copying an extended segment here. I highlighted 1-8, duplicated
the selected measures, and pasted it in 9-16. OK, hopefully that is long
enough.
OK, let’s see how my file sounds.
OK, that sounds just fine. That will work for my uses. I need to save the
file and export the MIDI and make sure I have a copy of that as well. I
have an Aria Maestosa as well as a MIDI file. Very good.
I am in Zamzar.com. I am going to grab my file. I find it here. I am going
to grab my MIDI file. I open it. I want to convert the file to wav. Enter
my email and go ahead and convert it. You have done this before.
OK, wonderful, my file was converted. Again I want to download my file;
save link as. Then save it to the right directory where I have all of my
other sound files.
OK, so my file is now downloading. There it is down here. I need to pull
it out of the download section and put it in the directory I want it to be
in. Well, my file is found in Users->Terry->Downloads. Here it is:
Comp4rhtyhmic.wav. So I will put that in the same file as my other (audio)
files.
Excellent. My plan is now coming together. Let’s look at this again. I
want to start off with my rhythmic background with the retro loop. I will
put them together. I will then start with my text.
Let’s first File->Import->Audio and import the audio track. Here is my
rhythmic background. Make a copy—of course. That is always a good idea.
Let’s see how that sounds.
That is really loud. It is going off the charts there. OK, I will take
care of the volume a little bit later.
Here is that audio loop. My problem with the audio loop is that it was set
to a tempo of 120. So these two will not line up very well. That is a
problem for me. If I play these two together…
They are not together besides the fact that they are way too loud. Let me
pull down this volume a bit. Maybe down 10.
OK, now so, what do I do here? Well, select the whole track. Then go to
Effect and Change Tempo. That is important because this changes the tempo
without changing the pitch. Let’s say for instance, you had it like this.
It is asking for a percent. If I don’t know exactly what it is. The tempo
is 120 and I want to go to 80. It should make the percent change for me.
Alright, it is down 33.333. Last time when I was experimenting with this I
put in the tempos and it gave me the percent change. OK, so let’s do that.
Notice that it has already made it longer. Now the only thing I have to do
is line it up so that they are coinciding correctly. OK, let’s play it
now.
Actually that is not too bad, it is pretty close. I could fool around with
that a little bit. Do you remember how to zoom in? It looks like this is a
little bit off. Let’s move that over so that it is a little bit better. So
that those line up, that is probably about right, right there. That’s
good. OK, so let me zoom out a little bit. OK.
I want to copy and then I want to paste some more copies of this. I will
adjust it so that it lines up. I can do another one. Copy another one
here: control_V. Then I can go ahead and line them up. Hopefully that
gives me enough music. If not, I can make some more. Let’s see how this
works now. Let’s try in this area here.
OK, good. You can see how that might work now with my rhythmic background.
Let me just practice that a bit.
Something like that! OK. You can see how that background will actually
work pretty well for me. Now I need to record the voice over that.
