I suggest you practice on some short materials to figure out how you will manage your time on the project. I often create small test projects just to assess how things will work.

There are several decisions you will need to make:

1) What video software will you use? You might have more than one choice and one might be easier or better for you to use. Test them!

2) Will you create a finished sound track in Audacity, another Digital Audio Workstation, or add some of the items in your video software? Many times it is easier to synchronize the sound effects in the video editor.

3) Will you use the avi file (larger) for better results or will you use one of the other formats? The avi file doesn't work with some video software.

Here are some test materials for you:

10 second video sample: avi | mp4 | wmv

gun shot: wav | mp3

So practice adding music, a voice over, and the mp3 sample to your video. Try a few different methods and see which works best for you. See if you can line up the sounds exactly where you want them with the video segment. Then save the video and look at the results. A little bit of time spent experimenting with these test files could save you a lot of exasperation later!

Finally take all look at the grading matrices for the final project. Notice that I will be grading you on appropriate choices of music. What culture and time period is the movie trailer expressing? With that in mind, what music choices, sound effects, and voice overs would best fit the character of the trailer?

I am looking for creativity, so please explain your choices in the report. I look forward to your work!
