Chris
Loveway, Tree of
Life (Lutherville-Timonium:
YAV
publications, 2007). Paperback, 333 pages. Reading grade level 10-12.
It
is encouraging to see Trinity Assembly of God’s talented
congregation ministering in many creative ways. The music ministry we
see in
our services each Sunday is one example. In this book we see yet
another
ministry. Chris Loveway is a pen name for one of many authors currently
attending Trinity Assembly of God. I will not give away the name here,
because
he may wish to keep it under wraps for now.
Tree of Life is a
contemporary action novel about a secret and hidden community who are
descendants
of Jesus’ disciples. Suspense is created in the novel by
those seeking to find
this community. As a multimillionare and others rush to the site, end time
predictions appear to be coming true. In the midst of this story line
Loveway interjects
philosophical and scientific evidence in support of Christian
orthodoxy. The
main character also struggles with issues of faith raised by his life
circumstances
and the discovered community of Christians.
Two
sequels to the book are planned. I look forward to
reading them.
